On July 28, 2023, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued Order No. 2023 (RM22-14-000) mandating significant reforms to generator interconnection procedures and agreements to ensure that interconnection customers can interconnect to the transmission system in a reliable, efficient, transparent, timely, and fair manner. The reforms build on the standardized procedures that FERC established in Order Nos. 2003, 2006, and 845, and are intended to address transmission interconnection queue backlogs, improve certainty, and prevent undue discrimination for new technologies as those resources proliferate. On March 21, 2024, FERC issued Order No. 2023-A with some incremental reforms to the Order.
